Drew Heckman is jointly pursuing a Master in Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School and a JD at Harvard Law School. Prior to Harvard, Drew spent two years in his native Nebraska working first on the Queer Nebraska Youth Network, an organization he started in 2010, and then serving as the Human Rights Campaign’s first-ever Nebraska Field Organizer. After Nebraska, Drew spent a year in Madrid taking Spanish courses and interning with the LGBTI Program of the Autonomous Community of Madrid and the Spanish LGBT Federation (Federación Estatal de Lesbianas, Gais, Transexuales, y Bisexuales). He came to realize in his work with the LGBTQ community that this community is just as diverse as the larger population, and that a commitment to LGBTQ justice means a commitment to racial, economic, gender, immigrant, and other forms of social justice. He’s excited to be a part of the logistics team for BPC 2017.
