Shauna B. Theel is currently pursuing a Master in Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School with support from the Louis Bacon Environmental Leadership Fellowship. Prior to graduate school, she was the Deputy Director of Digital Media at the American Wind Energy Association, the trade association for the over 1,000 companies comprising the U.S. wind industry. In this position, she placed stories in top traditional and digital media outlets from an influential network of companies and organizations, and developed the organization’s social media strategy and outreach plan. Previously, she served as the Climate and Energy Program Director at Media Matters for America, a not-for- profit, web-based media watchdog, where she was the editor for all energy and environment content and managed long term projects capturing data on the amount and nature of coverage of climate change and energy.
Last summer she worked as a consultant for public utilities and energy companies at Strategy&, a part of the PwC network. She also wrote a forthcoming publication for the United Nations on mini-grids that the UN is developing in sub-Saharan Africa while based in Ethiopia. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Berkeley.
