Debbie Alfred is a second year Master in Public Policy student at Harvard Kennedy School. Upon finishing her bachelor’s degrees from Florida State University, she received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to Cote d’Ivoire. Debbie regards this experience as one of the most transformative periods of her adult life and a solidifying reason to pursue a career in international education. Upon completing her grant in Cote d’Ivoire, she spent a year in Germany as a fellow with the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) Program. There, she worked with the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning completing research on technology in literacy policies for adult learners. Most recently, Debbie was awarded the Donald M. Payne International Development Fellowship to join the USAID Foreign Service after completing her graduate studies.
